Tourism Careers Awareness Program

EDUCATOR AND STUDENT
RESOURCE GUIDE

This web site provides valuable information on our local tourism industry, as well as innovative ideas on ways to incorporate tourism into existing curriculum programs and examples of how assignments can meet the Sunshine State Standards.

 DID YOU KNOW THAT:

Tourism is Lee County's leading industry

Tourism employs more than 28,000+ Lee County residents with a wage impact of nearly a half billion dollars

Tourism means more than $114 million collected each year in additional tax revenues for Lee County

In addition to being our area’s strongest economic engine, tourism provides a multitude of career opportunities at a variety of skill and education levels. The Tourism Careers Awareness Program (TCAP) is designed to be an investment in tomorrow’s workforce. The Lee County tourism industry wants our future leaders to consider careers in Lee County’s leading industry. As the centerpiece of TCAP, the annual "Educate the Educators" event brings local tourism industry leaders together with more than 100 Lee County middle and high school teachers for a day-long workshop on the value of and career opportunities in tourism. The seminars and activities feature valuable information regarding our tourism industry, its career opportunities, and how teachers can bridge the gap between today’s leading industry and tomorrow’s industry leaders.

For more information on TCAP, please call the Lee Island Coast Visitor and Convention Bureau at (941)338-3500.
