who will be
appearing at the Lee County Reading Festival on Elizabeth Berg is a best-selling author, whose Open House was chosen in August of 2000 by Oprah Winfrey for her famous book club. Berg’s first novel, "Durable Goods, was honored by the American Library Association as one of the best books of the year in 1994. Her other novels have been best-sellers, and in 1997, Berg won the NEBA ( New England Booksellers" Association) award for fiction, honoring her entire body of work. Bly is a lawyer, a retired FBI agent, and a retired member of the CIA who worked as a Senior Staff Officer in the international communist areas of operation. She founded Lavelle Publishing in 1997 with the release of The Desires of a Woman: Poems Celebrating Womanhood. Scott Ciencin - Scott Ciencin is the author of popular juvenile books featuring dinosaurs including Dinoverse, and movie tie-ins to the "Jurassic Park III" movie, Prey and Survivor. Evelyn Coleman is the author of several highly praised, award winning children's books, including White Socks Only, The Glass Bottle Tree, and To Be A Drum. Tim Dorsey - Tim Dorsey is the author of four novels set in

Miami. He worked for the Tampa Tribune from 1987 to 1999, part of that

time. He lives in Tampa with his wife and two daughters. Lois Duncan the author of the book "I Know What You Did Last Summer" grew up in Sarasota. She is the author of over 40-books, ranging from children's picture books to adult novels, but is best known for her young adult suspense novels. Adults may know Duncan best for "Who Killed My Daughter" , the true story of her search for the truth behind the murder of her daughter, Kaitlyn. Gary Loderhose - Gary Loderhose is the author of Way Down Upon the Suwannee River: Sketches of Florida During the Civil War and Far, Far from Home: the Ninth Florida Regiment in the Confederate Army. He publishes the newsletter, "The Drummer’ s Roll: A Journal of Florida During the Civil War". Loderhose lives in Cape Coral. Doug MacGregor - Doug MacGregor is the editorial cartoonist for The News-Press. His latest book is called, The Best of Sunny-Side Up, his cartoon feature in the Lifestyles section. Matthiessen has published six novels, including a critically acclaimed trilogy set in the Everglades, Killing Mr. Watson, Lost Man’s River, and Bone to Bone. He also has published numerous books of nonfiction, most notably The Snow Leopard, which won the National Book Award. His latest book is The Birds of Heaven: Travels with Cranes. Timmothy McCann - Timmothy McCann is proudest of the fact that he is the father of two children. He is also the author of three novels, Until, Always, and Forever. McCann spent a great deal of time corresponding with female authors to determine what they wanted in a romance novel. He is a teacher and mentor. He has lived in Lee County since 1959, teaching and as an administrator in the Lee County School System. Following retirement, he has done volunteer work at the Fort Myers Historical Museum. He is a historian, who served as president of the Southwest Florida Historical Society and the Civil War Roundtable of Lee County. Stuart Murphy - Stuart Murphy is a visual learning specialist who attended the Rhode Island School of Design. Remkiewicz will be appearing at the Lee County Reading Festival with Froggy. Brenda Seabrooke is the author of The Haunting of Statton Falls and other mysteries, as well as award winning titles including Judy Scuppernong and The Bridges of Summer. Seabrooke's works also feature young characters from historical times, The Chester Town Tea Party, The Boy Who Saved the Town, and fantastic tales The Care and Feeding of Dragons and The Swan's Gift. Jamie Shaheen - Jamie Shaheen is the writer and composer of the songs on the children’s CD, Everybody's Happy When They're Singing. She has been performing for over twenty years throughout the country. Some of her performances have been for one of the country’s largest amusement parks. Jamie lives in California. Her performances are sponsored by the Friends of the South Ft. Myers Library at Rutenberg. Charles Sobczak - Charles Sobczak is the author of three books, Six Mornings on Sanibel, Way Under Contract, A Florida Story, and Rhythm of the Tides. His novel, Way Under Contract, won the 2001 Patrick D. Smith Award for Florida Literature, presented by the Florida Historical Society. Rhythm of the Tides, his latest work, is a collection of newspaper columns, along with a selection of poetry and lyrics. Sobczak lives on Sanibel Island.
