I am currently at chapter 17, & I've really been enjoying "A
Land Remembered". My family & I have just "transplanted" to Fort
Myers from up North this past November, so this book has been an
excellent introduction to the history of Florida for me. I only
wish I had a specific referrence guide for some of the
vegatation, etc. mentioned in the book so I could fully envision
the scenes. I have been looking alot up online & familarizing
myself with it all. My family & I took a daytrip through the
Everglades yesterday, & the book really had me appreciating my
surroundings. I truly wondered what it must've been like for the
folks like the MacIveys, & I had a great amount of gratitude for
the fact that I could access it all from my vehicle now, fairly
safely. It is really sad to think of all the development &
change, though. I look forward to finishing the novel &
discussing it. I also look forward to learnining more about my
surrounding environment & its history as well.

I discovered that once I got beyond the first chapter of "A
Land Remembered" I was in for a non-stop adventurous read. A
recent trip along Lake Okeechobee through Pahokee up to Fort
Drum after listening to this book on audio tape was quite
reminiscent...an excellent spin on Florida history...try it -
you'll love it! What a way to go Lee County Library System!!

I couldn't put the book down once I started reading it! The
family values portrayed were refreshing and I enjoyed trying to
picture Fort Myers in the early days.

This is one of the best books that I have read in a long
time! It was very entertaining and I learned a lot about Florida
history. The book was so good that I read the entire thing in
one sitting. - Courtney, Fort Myers, Dec. 2004
I really enjoyed reading this book! It kept me going from
start to finish. I laughed, I cried, and I learned a lot about
our state of Florida. I will be telling all my friends to read
it. Dec. 2004
