About One Book One Community

Sharing Florida Families' Histories As a part of the community-wide reading project One Book, One Community: Lee County Reads “A Land Remembered,” Lee County Library System, News-Press and WGCU Public Media partnered to document stories from long-time area residents about their family histories. A Florida Life Remembered is modeled after the StoryCorps project developed by David Isay that encourages people to share their life experiences with one another. While StoryCorps recordings are archived with the Library of Congress, the recordings gleaned from A Florida Life Remembered will be aired on WGCU 90.1 FM and are available at the WGCU Public Media web site. The Southwest Florida Museum of History has agreed to archive MP3 audio files and the State Library will also keep electronic files available for research and education purposes. |
